Sheila Haverkamp, BLADC executive director, said Gillaspy's presentation on demographic trends will include information on future effects for the economy, neighborhoods, schools and the work force. A model of the Crow Wing County master building project in downtown Brainerd will be on display.
"He does give an interesting perspective and he shares facts and figures, but he puts it in a real human-interest way," Haverkamp said. "And I think it will help businesses and BLADC as they plan for the future."
About 165 people have registered for the event.
"So there is a sincere interest by the businesses in the community," Haverkamp said.
Haverkamp said the lakes area is still experiencing growth and development as the economy adjusts to global competition.
"A lot of people are trying to plan and see where we are in five, 10 and 20 years," Haverkamp said.
Gillaspy is expected to shed light on what trends may be ahead.
