Just a few games into conference play, Colorado College, Minnesota and St. Cloud State are making steady WCHA showings. But Denver and North Dakota have yet to enter the race.
The Gophers, Huskies and Tigers are each 1-0-1 in WCHA standings after weekend play. But the best overall records go to the Fighting Sioux (4-0-0) and the Pioneers (5-1-0), who have yet to play a conference game.
North Dakota handily beat Niagara, 6-4, 5-3, over the weekend, while Denver also swept their opponent, Alabama-Huntsville, 7-2, 7-0, in Friday and Saturday night games.
In WCHA action, Colorado College tied Minnesota-Duluth 4-4 Friday and then beat the Bulldogs 4-3 Saturday. Minnesota beat Michigan Tech 5-4 and then ended in a 3-3 tie the next night. And St. Cloud State beat Minnesota-Mankato 6-5 in overtime Friday and then had a 1-1 draw Saturday.
