Baxter girl first in Fall Festival race

Jenna Ruzich, Baxter, competing for Nisswa NW Biathlon, won the 9.8-kilometer mass start Youth Women's roller ski Biathlon race at Elk River on Sunday.

Ruzich had seven misses for 20 shots in a time of 49:44, narrowly edging out Kelci Roberts of Battle Lake, also skiing for Nisswa NW, who had nine misses and a time of 50:36.

Raleigh Goessling, competing for the Duluth Esko Club and the Junior National Team, won the 12.2km Youth Men's race with seven misses in a time of 40:56. Conrad Roberts, Battle Lake and Nisswa NW, was third with 11 misses in 44:07. Zean Baker, Nisswa NW, was sixth with 15 misses in 52:44.

Noah Baker finished the 7.2km Novice race with eight misses for 10 shots in 43:35.

In the individual races Saturday, where the shooting penalty was 45 seconds of time added per miss rather than skiing a penalty loop, Kelci Roberts was first in the 12.2km Youth Women's race with seven misses and a final time of 57:41.

In the 15.2km Youth Men's race, Conrad Roberts finished with eight misses in a final time of 51:52. Raleigh Goessling was second with 10 misses in 54:10, Zean Baker was fourth with 12 misses in 1:03:45.
