Colvin W. Caughey

Colvin Wallace Caughey was born Nov. 25, 1924, to Walter and Rose Caughey in Brainerd, Minn. He departed quietly for his heavenly home at 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 22, 2009. He served three years in the Army in WWII with the 11th Armored Division. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He graduated from University of Sioux Falls, S.D., and from Central Baptist Seminary, Kansas. He pastored seven churches over a period of 40 years, including 25 years at the First Baptist Church of Des Moines, Wash.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Auburn, Wash.; daughters, Cathy Kernen (Rick), of Auburn, Wash., and Becky Fiebach (Bruce), of Portland, Ore.; sons, Paul Caughey (Kathy), of Des Moines, Wash., and Mark Caughey (Deanne), of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Bolton; and brother, Frank Caughey.

A celebration of Colvin's life will be held at Grace Baptist Church at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30. Memorial gifts may be made to Grace Baptist Church, 2507 N. Vassault, Tacoma, WA 98406.
