THIEF RIVER FALLS - The Central Lakes College women's volleyball team went 2-4 and finished as consolation runners-up in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference state tournament Saturday and Sunday.
In pool play Saturday, the Raiders were 1-2 defeating Fergus Falls between losses to Ridgewater and Northland.
CLC and Northland faced off in the bracket pay, with Northland defeating CLC 25-21, 25-23 to advance to the championship bracket, while the Raiders dropped to the consolation bracket.
Central Lakes defeated Itasca Sunday to advance to the consolation finals and in addition secured a berth in next weekend's Region 13B tournament in Hibbing.
CLC lost in the consolation finals to Fergus Falls in four games.
Central Lakes will face Northland in their first game Saturday in the Region 13B with a return trip to Nationals on the line.
"We scored a lot of points, but not enough to win the games that we could have or should have won," Raider coach Jane Peterson said. "We played well enough to advance by beating Itasca and that is the big positive thing to take from the weekend. We just have to look forward to next weekend and try to beat teams that have beaten us this season in close games with Hibbing and Northland."
