20 years ago (1986)

Betsy Zavoral of Ace Hardware is the latest person to be honored in the Brainerd Area Chamber of Commerce mystery shopper program. Ms. Zavoral brings the experience of building her own Pillager home to her job as book-keeper clerk at the store.

30 years ago (1976)

From the basement of the courthouse to a home of its own - the jail will become the Crow Wing County Historical Museum with your affirmative vote on Nov. 2.

40 years ago (1966)

Dine and dance at Harold's Club to the Bob Jarvis Quintet.

Dance Saturday night to Little Willie at Club LaGuyal.

60 years ago (1946)

Celebrating Halloween, the Trading Post of Brainerd will sponsor a party and dance at the Brainerd Armory Oct. 31, and entertainment for the youngsters between the ages of 13 and 20 will be provided by Howie Hill's Orchestra.

80 years ago (1926)

Paving work between Little Falls and Brainerd after completion will be given time to season and there will be a concrete highway into the Twin Cities from Brained. With several miles of paving between here (Aitkin) and Brainerd, Aitkin is almost as much entitled to celebrate as Brainerd is.

100 years ago (1906)

Peter Rosko, living in the south edge of the corporate limits of the city is the proud possessor of a handsome lynx hide which he secured yesterday afternoon. It is said to be one of the largest ever killed in Crow Wing County.
