Phyllis LaBorde Gustafson
CROSSLAKE -- Phyllis Elaine (Olander) LaBorde Gustafson, age 78, of Crosslake, died on Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester with family at her side. She was born on Nov. 24, 1925, to Olaf and Elda (Foote) Olander in Perry Lake Township near Crosby, Minn. She married George L. LaBorde Sr. on Sept. 18, 1943. In addition to raising her eight children and George's brother, Clarence, Phyllis was a dietary manager at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center for 25 years. After retirement, she worked in the office at the Emily Charter School for eight years. She married Vincent A. Gustafson on Jan. 12, 2000. She was a member of the Dietary Managers Association.
She is survived by husband, Vincent; three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Julie LaBorde, James and Kathy LaBorde, all of Crosby, and Randy and Sharon LaBorde, Randolph; four daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Gene Moritz, Crosby, Dianna and Richard Erickson, Modesto, Calif., Wendy and Harry Johnson, Crosslake, Judy and Greg Steinke, Deerwood; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Turner, Deerwood; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Harry Vandervort, Reedsport, Ore., Lauren Vandervort, South Haven, Minn., and Jeanine Roberts, Santa Maria, Calif.; three brothers, Merle (Audrey) Olander, Frank (Colleen) Olander, Gary (Wendy) Olander, all of Crosby; sisters, Mary (Emmett) Mays, Moab, Utah, Janice (Ray) Moritz, Crosby, Jennifer (Don) Bock, Bemidji; many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband George in 1988, son George (Louis) LaBorde Jr. in 1978, her parents, and brother, Christ Olander.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crosby.
Burial will be at the Pine Ridge Cemetery, Emily. Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Koop Funeral Home, Crosby, and an hour prior to services Saturday at church.
