Nancy Paulson, director of human resources at Central Lakes College, received the 2004 All Star Award by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
The All Star Award recognizes creativity and innovation, promotion of cooperation to resolve problems or improve process, and outstanding service.
Paulson was nominated by Joe Birmingham, CLC president, who cited her "unique talent to listen and question," as well as her excellence at analyzing and balancing facts with circumstances unique to every situation.
Paulson, who received a plaque as the sole MnSCU human resources recipient of the award, also was nominated for her commitment to a more diverse work force, improving the bargaining process in labor relations, innovations in hiring processes, and service to community.
"Nancy volunteered her staff and herself to serve as a resource to local school districts and bodies of government not fully staffed with HR personnel," Birmingham said of Paulson's collaborative actions.
"I was thrilled to receive this nomination and for the recognition from my MnSCU peers," said Paulson. "I would not have been recognized in such a way without the hard work and dedication of the rest of the HR team at CLC, who always strive for excellence -- and by doing so make me look good."
Paulson has worked at the college since 1988, been employed in CLC's human resources department since 1992, and held her current post since 1995. She attended Brainerd Community College.
