This letter is in answer to an article in the Monday, Oct. 17 Dispatch entitled, "Mining the West." The author of the article is twisting the facts to make a point. Yes, a mining company can buy land near Crested Butte, Colo., paying $900 for 155 acres of public land. What the writer does not say is that this company may have spent millions of dollars to prove or disprove that the land has an economic value.

Over 20 wounded are daily added to the 15,220 total. This is evidence of the ferocity, tenacity and apparent confidence with which the Iraqi insurgency faces US occupation.
