Orvel E. Steele

NISSWA -- Orvel E. Steele, 89, Nisswa, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.

He was born Jan. 11, 1913, in Rock Island, Ill. He joined the Army after his primary education in Rock Island and was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked by the Japanese. After leaving the service he married Joan Lund on Sept. 24, 1949, in Iowa. They made their home in St. Paul where he worked as a construction contractor. They moved to the Nisswa area in 1978 after his retirement.

Survivors include his wife.

His parents, four brothers and two sisters died earlier.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
