Greg Chester from Headwaters Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bemidji is tentatively scheduled to give a presentation on Native American styles of governing at the Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship meeting at 10:45 a.m. Sunday at Pequot Lakes City Hall. A potluck will follow the service. Religious education for children is available. NUUF is a welcoming congregation.

Westside craft sale

Westside Church, Highway 210 West of Aitkin, will host its annual fall craft sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 3. Women's Ministries will serve fresh rolls, lunch and pies and will have a bake sale. This is a fund-raiser for Calvary Ministries.

Park II Regional Rally

The Park II Regional Rally will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples with registration from 8:45-9:30 a.m. Tuesday. Regional vice president Jeanine Ehnert will preside over the meeting. Rally speaker will be Dr. Bernard Lutz, missionary to Lebanon. Delegates attending the national convention in San Jose, Calif., include Dorothy Mesch, Pequot Lakes, Brainerd Zone; Janella Schmidt, Dent, Detroit Lakes Zone; and Janette Moeller, Verndale, Wadena Zone. They will give reports. Young Women representatives Lonnie Hagen, Barnum, and Estelle Martin, Finlayson, will also report on the national convention.

Bible study leaders will be counselors, including Pastor Henry Koopmann, McGregor; Pastor Anthony Cloose, Frazee; and Pastor Hendrickson, Sebeka. An ingathering of food supplies will be taken for the Staples Food Shelf.

Zion Lutheran fall bazaar

Zion Lutheran Church, Little Falls, will host its fall bazaar from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 3. Crafts, baked goods and lunch will be available. Food will include vegetable beef soup and chili, homemade breads and pie. Cost: $4 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under and free for children under 6. Lutheran Brotherhood Morrison Co. Branch No. 8380 will match funds up to $450.

Choir director, organist

to be honored

Florence Garven, longtime choir director and church organist of Community Church of Walker, United Church of Christ, will be honored at 10 a.m. Sunday. An open house will be from 2-3 p.m. at May Creek Lodge in Walker. A card shower is requested. Send cards to Florence Garven, May Creek Lodge, PO Box 530, Walker, MN 56484.

Halloween at Lord of Life

Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter will host a Halloween event from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. Children can play games and trick or treat.

Trick or treat, help others EAT is a service the confirmation students are doing. They will be out collecting non-perishable goods for the food shelf.

Christmas bazaar

The St. Francis Council of Catholic Women will have its Christmas bazaar and luncheon from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 3 in the St. Francis Hall basement. Lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Hot turkey on a bun, salad, chips and pie will sell at $4 for adults and $2 for children under 10.

There will be crafts, bake sale items, a silent auction, raffles and a country store.

Help for students

Lutheran Church of the Cross will present a short forum on "How to help your child be a better student (without being a nag)" at 6:45 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Celebration Center at the church at Sportland Corners, Nisswa. It will focus on the challenges parents and students face in today's classrooms, followed by a time for questions and answers. Brainerd High School Principal Steven Razidlo will focus on junior and senior high students, but parents with students any age are welcome.
