The Past Commanders dinner meeting will be Wednesday at the Brainerd American Legion. Social hour will be 5:30-6:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Lakes and Woods Garden Club
AITKIN - The Lakes and Woods Garden Club will meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Mille Lacs Electric Cooperative meeting room, east on Highway 210 in Aitkin from the intersection of Highways 169 and 210. Bring your $12 check for 2009 membership, pictures and information to share about your favorite plant. If you have an interest in gaining information about different plants, plan to attend this meeting. Lakes and Woods membership includes several Master Gardeners. Visitors are always welcome.
Woodland Wildflower Red Hat group
BAXTER - The Woodland Wildflower Red Hat group will meet for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Grizzlies in Baxter. Any questions, call 829-9006.
Chapter DV, P.E.O.
Chapter DV, P.E.O. will meet 10 a.m. Saturday at the home of Joan Foss with Jan Morton as co-hostess. The program on Cottey College will be presented by Joan Foss and Elsa Windh.
Alpha Chapter meeting
Alpha Chapter will celebrate Halloween at the Monday meeting at the Masonic Hall with costumes optional. Dinner will be 6:30 p.m. with the meeting at 7:30 p.m. Prior to the dinner, quilts for the Masonic Home will be fringed and tied.
BNSF Vets breakfast meeting
The BNSF Vets will meet at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Northwind Grille.
VFW Post No. 1647 events
The VFW Post No. 1647 Friday night fundraiser will be serving burgers, fries, beans and treats from 5:30-7 p.m. Cost: $6.
The VFW Post and Auxiliary will participate in the children's Halloween party from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Westgate Mall.
USBC Women's Bowling Association
The Brainerd/Baxter USBC Women's Bowling Association will have its fall membership meeting at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Brainerd Moose Lodge. All bowlers are invited. Refreshments will be served.
Salvation Army fundraiser
Schwans will have a fundraiser to benefit Salvation Army youth programs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, 609 Norwood Street, Brainerd. A percentage of the sales of products sold will be donated to the local Salvation Army.
In addition, the thrift store will reopen from 5-6:30 p.m. Nov. 1 with all sales during this time period to benefit the youth programs.
