Wintry weather will arrive today in the Brainerd area. The forecast calls for a good chance for rain becoming mixed with snow and changing to snow this afternoon with an inch or two of wet snow possible.

30 years ago (1978)

The Cotillion Dance Club will hold a Pumpkin Dance Friday, Oct. 27, at Harolds Club. The Breakaways will play for dancing.

40 years ago (1968)

Time for a change. Jewelers and other merchants who deal in time pieces have a bigger job on their hands than do most homeowners tonight when Daylight Savings Time comes to an end.

60 years ago (1948)

The witches, bats, goblins, pumpkins and what have you will ride high as a group of 103 school-age children invade the Brainerd business district Thursday morning for the first Halloween window painting contest.

80 years ago (1928)

Roses in full bloom grown in their own backyard grace the table of Mr. and Mrs. C.D. McKay, 607 Holly Street, today despite the coolness of the weather. Mr. McKay places a box over the roses at night and that keeps the cold from affecting the flowers.

100 years ago (1908)
