Brainerd Mayor C. Elmer Anderson was voted "Executive of the Year," Wednesday by the Brainerd Chapter of Professional Secretaries International.

30 years ago (1974)

Elected to the board of Build Brainerd, Inc. were John O'Brien, Marvin Campbell, Donald R. Terrell and George Peterson.

40 years ago (1964)

Architects are now surveying the block southeast of Washington High School in an effort to determine how much of it would be needed to provide a site for a proposed vocational industrial arts and commercial unit.

60 years ago (1944)

The officers of Headquarter Company of the local Guard unit invited the regimented band members to their duck dinner on Nov. 4. The band members were very cordially invited to the dinner on one condition - they bring their own ducks for the occasion.

80 years ago (1924)

Crow Wing County roads as a whole are in exceptionally fine condition for week end motoring. Efforts to keep both county and state trunk routes in prime condition for the fall freeze-up are being made.

100 years ago (1904)

W. T. Larabee of the Ideal Saloon, has made arrangements for a special wire in his place of business and will, on the evening of election, receive telegraphic bulletins on elections. All gentlemen are invited to be present.
