Clarence A. Ostlund

PINE RIVER -- Clarence A. Ostlund, 80, Pine River, died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, at Innovis Hospital in Fargo.

He was born Jan. 17, 1922, in Crosslake to Charlie and Ella (Hallenborg) Ostlund. He attended country school and Swanburg Lutheran Church in Crosslake. After graduating from Brainerd High School, he enlisted in the Navy serving in the South Pacific during World War II. After the war he worked as a teller at the Pine River State Bank. He married Anna Mae Strand on Nov. 18, 1956. They lived in Pequot Lakes and were members of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. In 1960 they returned to Pine River. He worked at Pine River State Bank and was the executive vice president before joining Lakeland State Bank in Pequot Lakes in 1977. He was a founding board member of the Pine River Housing Authority, volunteered at the food shelf, was a member of First Lutheran Church in Pine River and served at the Pequot Lakes Bean Hole Days. He retired from banking in 1986.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Ostlund, Pine River, and Darla Naseem-Ahmed, Berlin; two grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Johnson, Ortonville.

Two brothers, Robert and Charles, died earlier.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Pine River with Pastor John Twiton officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kline Funeral Home in Pine River and an hour before services Monday at the church.
