Robert E. Thomas

AITKIN -- Robert Eugene Thomas, 76, Aitkin, formerly of Crosby, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, at the Riverwood Health Care Center in Aitkin.

He was born March 23, 1925, in Esquagamah Township to John and Frances (Beardsley) Thomas. He married Jeannette Louise Oleson in January 1947 in Baxter. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a retired employee with M.A. Hanna Mining Co. with 32 years of service.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Thomas Jr., Crosby, Rodney Thomas, Aitkin, Richard Thomas, Rockford, and Kevin Thomas, Nisswa; three daughters, Cheryl Johnson and Nina Huse, both of Aitkin, and Julie Seavey, Blaine; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Julius "Blaine" Thomas, Deerwood; and a sister, Evelyn Dixon, Crosby.

His wife, eight sisters, a brother, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild died earlier.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby with the Rev. Glenn Browning officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Palisade with full military rites by the Myrin James American Legion Post 443 of Ironton.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and an hour before services Saturday at Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
