BAXTER -- Three people were arrested Wednesday night as a result of an armed robbery of a Baxter liquor store.

At least two people, one armed with a handgun and the other armed with a bat, robbed the store, Baxter police said.

The three suspects are now in police custody as a result of the robbery.

Baxter Police Chief Robbi Gallant said two adults and a juvenile were arrested. Two armed individuals entered the pink Northern Lakes Wine and Spirit Warehouse store on Dellwood Drive in Baxter about 9 p.m. and left with a few hundred dollars in cash, Gallant said. A single clerk was working at the time and was not injured.

Witnesses described the vehicle. Brainerd police officers stopped the suspect vehicle with one occupant about 9:30 p.m. The other two suspects were arrested about 11 p.m.

Two males and a female were arrested in connection with the robbery. Gallant said he did not have the information on the suspects ages as reports were being gathered today, but he said the individuals were lakes area residents.

Gallant said reports are expected to be completed later today. The suspects are being held in the Crow Wing County Jail. The owner of Northern Lakes Wine and Spirit could not be reached for comment this morning.

Northern Lakes Wine and Spirit was robbed by a lone man, possibly armed with a shotgun, on April 17, 2001. The store clerk was not injured. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
