The Central Lakes College football team has moved up one spot in the Oct. 20 NJCAA/JC Football.com Poll.

CLC, ranked 14th last week, is 13th this week. The Raiders, 2-1 in the Southern Division, 7-1 overall, end the regular season at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against Ridgewater (1-2, 3-5) at the Findorff Athletic Complex in Brainerd.

The Raiders will play in the state playoffs Oct. 31 at either Vermilion or Fond Du Lac.

Men's basketball registration under way

The Brainerd Family YMCA is accepting registrations for its upcoming adult men's basketball league.

League play begins Nov. 23 for individuals 18 and older. Officiated games will be played on Monday and/or Wednesday nights.

Registration materials are available at Brainerd Family YMCA or at www.brainerdlakesymca.org. You may register as an individual or a team.

Brenny named Great West Female Runner of Week

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - For the second time this season, University of North Dakota senior Brittany Brenny of Staples was honored as the Great West Conference Female Runner of the Week.

She received this week's accolade after leading the Fighting Sioux last Saturday at Fayetteville, Ark. Brenny finished 30th out of 267 runners at the Chile Pepper Festival to help UND to a 17th-place finish. Her time of 21:47.78 in the 6-kilometer race is the third-fastest time in the GWC this year at that distance.

GVL team wins Iron Man

The threesome of Jesse Nelson, Shawn Chambers and Jack Wawro shot 68 to win the Iron Man tournament Oct. 11 at the Preserve at Grand View Lodge.

Mark Neva, Adam Gibbs and RJ Stabenow shot 71 for second. Also shooting 71 for third was Brian Moores, Thad Bloeberger and Tom Grabinski. Placing fourth was team Hasselberg. Glen, Derek and Dana Hasselberg fired a 73. Joel Weber, Clarence Hemsing and Brad Deyak also shot 73 for fifth place.

It was incorrectly reported that the Crosby-Ironton Rangers Section 6-2A quarterfinal football game against Wadena-Deer Creek will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Crosby.
