From all indications Christmas will come early this year for customers of Brainerd Public Utilities. If PUC staff have their way it will be in the form of a credit on December and January bills. Mayor Bob Olson prefers a refund check issued by Christmas.

Five Brainerd Aldermen - Koep, O'Brien, Wallin, Brown and Michaelis - were found guilty of contempt of court as Judge Harold Schultz levied fines of $250 per day for their refusal to fluoridate Brainerd's water supply.

Brainerd's high school football home finale fizzled Friday night at Roosevelt Field when an underrated Wadena eleven walked away with a 12-0 victory. Chuck Garr, the Indians halfback started the trouble when he sliced around right end for an 81-yard TD jaunt.

To George Berkholder goes the responsibility of getting enough migratory ducks for a dinner on November 18 at which the American Legion will fete its new 1930 members.
100 years ago (1909)
Arthur Fade, who was supposed to fade from sight last week on a suspended vagrancy charge, blew back into town and was in court today. Fade is about as picturesque a baldheaded scarecrow as has been seen in Brainerd for many years.
