Warrior girls to play Elk River for section soccer title

The top-seeded Brainerd Warriors will play the No. 2 Elk River Elks for the Section 8-2A girls' soccer championship at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Cloud State University.

Elk River (4-11-2) beat No. 6 Moorhead 1-0 in the semifinals while Brainerd eliminated No. 4 Buffalo 2-0.

CLC to play Fergus Falls at state

The Central Lakes College Raiders will play Fergus Falls in the opening round of the MCAC state volleyball tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday at Thief River Falls.

The consolation championship is at 11 a.m. Sunday, third place at 1 p.m. and the championship at 3 p.m.

Red Rockets win flag football title

The YMCA/Brainerd High School intramural flag football season ended with the Red Rockets beating the City Raiders 38-21.

The Red Rockets were managed by Devin Janousek. Team members included Karl Freudenberg, Andrew Sabir, Austin Metzger, Craig McCluney, Adam Tautges and Alex Rhode.

In the third-place game, the Nighthawks beat Awesome 48-46.

There were 29 participants from BHS in grades 10-12. The YMCA will be sponsoring winter intramurals in conjunction with BHS starting in November.
