Michaelson sparks Pequot Lakes

THIEF RIVER FALLS - Matt Michaelson rushed for 242 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Pequot Lakes Patriots past the Thief River Falls Prowlers 28-6 in a Heart O'Lakes Conference North Division regular-season ending game Wednesday.

Nick Greer set the tone for Pequot Lakes, ranked ninth in Class 3A, when he returned the opening kickoff to the Prowlers' 33. Michaelson scored four plays later from 15 yards out.

Michaelson's other touchdown runs were from four, nine and 69 yards. He carried the ball 22 times and kicked all four extra points.

Pequot Lakes is seeded first in the Section 8-3A quarterfinals and hosts No. 8 Roseau Tuesday night.
