BACKUS - Rose Taylor, age 80, of Backus, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. She was born July 9, 1929, in Omaha, Neb., to Max and Elvera Geihs. She married Billy Taylor on Dec. 28, 1946. They were married 51 years until his death on Nov. 11, 1997. They owned Portage Camp Resort in Backus from 1964 to 1980. Rose was a teacher's aide at the Backus School for 16 years, Powers Township clerk for several years and also coordinated a hospice program in Backus. She was an active member of Backus Legion Auxiliary, Backus Lions Club, Red Hats, Powder Puffs, Birthday Club and Sewing Club.
Rose is survived by her children, Bill Taylor (Mel), of Backus, Bob Taylor (Pat), of Marietta, Ga., Brad Taylor (Bobbi), of San Antonio, Texas, Bonnie Nicholson, of Baraboo, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Church of the Nazarene, Backus, with Pastor Greg Baker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
