The Crow Wing County Republicans for McCain-Palin will conduct a rally at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Lakes College in room E208.
Dorothy Fleming, deputy chair of the Minnesota Republican Party, will be the featured guest. Also attending will be David Allan Pundt, Republican challenger for the Minnesota House District 12A seat, and former state Sen. Carrie Ruud, R-Breezy Point.
Immediately following the rally a phone bank will be conducted at the same location. Interested persons who can't attend the rally but would be available for the phone bank should be there at 11:30 a.m.

Coleman will visit city
Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn., will visit Brainerd, Wadena and Little Falls in a five-city campaign swing Wednesday. Dubbed "The Hope Express," Coleman's tour also will include stops in Park Rapids and Detroit Lakes.
The tour's stop at Wadena is at noon at the Cozy Theatre at 223 Jefferson St. S. Other stops are at 1:30 p.m. at the Black Bear Lodge and Saloon, 14819 Edgewood Drive, in Baxter and 3 p.m. at the A & T Black and White Restaurant, 116 First St. S.E., in Little Falls.
YMCA teen scene for fifth- and sixth-graders
The Brainerd Family YMCA will host a teen scene from 6-8:30 p.m. Friday for fifth- and sixth-graders.
There will be music, dodgeball, concession items and Giovanni's Pizza. Best Buy is partnering with the YMCA and is sponsoring the dance contest by providing Best Buy gift cards as prizes. Best Buy employees will be assisting YMCA staff with chaperoning. The cost per person is $5.
First Friday drum circle planned
The First Friday Drum Circle will meet at 7:30 p.m. on the first Friday of each month at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 415 Juniper St., in Brainerd.
The FFDC will meet at the church but the group is not affiliated with the church. Those attending don't have to have any musical ability or a drum.
Financial Health Check workshop planned for townships and small cities
A Financial Health Check workshop sponsored by Region Five Development Commission will be from 1-3 p.m. or 6-8 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Larson Allen Building, 14275 Golf Course Drive, Suite 300, Baxter.
Topics for this workshop are financial stability and internal controls.
The workshop is for clerks, treasurers, chief financial officers, chairpersons, board members of townships and small cities who run on a cash basis and are a population of 2,500 or less.
Space is limited to the first 30 responders to each session. If desired, those attending can bring their 2007 fiscal year financial reports. Discussion leaders will help draw out "insights" regarding your government unit's financial position/results.
Doug Host and Tom Koop, CPAs from Larson Allen, will discuss the required reporting practices and "government financial best practices and procedures."

Town hall meeting planned
BAXTER - Edgewood Vista Senior Living, 14890 Beaver Dam Road, Brainerd, is hosting a town hall meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Candidates John Ward, David Allen Pundt, Al Doty and Mike LeMieur will be present to answer questions.
