Glen Olsen, a registered nurse, is providing free massages to Central Lakes College students.
"To my knowledge we are the only community college in the state that has this equipment and service available," Olsen said. "There is a lot to be said for therapeutic massage. A few companies provide massage to employees to minimize the pain of carpel tunnel syndrome, sore lower backs, migraine headaches, etc."
Olsen received his training from two other registered nurses who provide massages -- one for the general public out of her home. Olsen said his CLC nursing studies included a section on the benefits and technique of back rubs.
"I liked it," said Patel. "This will be a popular feature, especially near mid-term and finals."
Olsen said he is looking into aromatherapy features that could yield further benefit for those who take the time for a campus massage.
