Military pallbearers carried Spc. George Cauley's coffin out of the Camp Ripley Memorial Chapel Tuesday. Cauley, a Walker resident, died Oct. 10. in Afghanistan three days after insurgents attacked his vehicle in Helmand province. Dozens of people, including family, friends, Patriot Guard members and Gov. Tim Pawlenty and his wife paid their respects for the Minnesota National Guard member who was born in Crosby and graduated from Northland High School in Remer in 2003. The 24-year-old was a heavy vehicle operator and a member of the 114th Transportation Company "Wolfpack," based out of Duluth. The funeral service was Tuesday at the Camp Ripley Memorial Chapel followed by interment with full military honors in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery.
