Angel Food distribution schedule changed

Because of an overwhelming response to Angel Food Ministries' discounted food boxes (featured in the Oct. 2 Dispatch) distribution times have changed.

Pre-ordered boxes must be picked up between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at First Lutheran Church, 424 S. Eighth St. in Brainerd.

Berniece Hedquist, First Lutheran's Angel Food coordinator, said 424 boxes were ordered for the month of October, nearly triple the September orders.

Because of the increase in orders, food will be shipped directly to Brainerd instead of Minneapolis where First Lutheran representatives used to pack it into a trailer and drive it back to First Lutheran.

Angel Food Ministries is a nonprofit, non-denominational organization based in Georgia that sells boxes of food - from fresh fruit and vegetables to a variety of food to feed a family of four for a week - at discounted prices.

Menus change monthly. November menus can be found at angelfoodministries.com or by calling First Lutheran Church at 829-9552. November orders are due Nov. 11 and distribution will be Nov. 21. Thanksgiving boxes must be ordered by Oct. 27 for distribution on Nov. 21.
