Research: As your county commissioner, I will research the issues and gather as much information on the subject matter as possible. Prioritize: Is it a necessity? Will it benefit the majority? These tough decisions need to be made, whether it is prosperous or harsh economic times.
What abilities or qualifications separate you from your competition? Why are you the best candidate for the county board seat?
I'm running for the open seat of District 1 for you, the people. I didn't come to the table with a personal or political agenda. The past and future with my family is rooted in this area. I care what happens here in this very diverse area of the county. I'm confident I'll be able to work with the board and the employees of the county, to make decisions that are best for everyone in District 1. My 13 years of experience with the township has provided me with insights to issues affecting the county, as well as individuals personally.

Over the past few weeks we have watched the media report on our present economic hardships. Although we can identify with this attention, we fail to realize that the hard decisions that affect us here in Crow Wing County are decisions that need to be made here at home first. The future of our area is determined by how professionally we manage our resources today. I feel I have the education, background and experience to work with others in making hard decisions about government spending and how our community can help control the issue through useful, positive resource management.

Government has been good to my family and my career. I have participated in government at all levels: Municipal, county, state, federal and most recently, international in a police mission in Afghanistan. I have formal education in administration and I have gained experience in management, budgeting, organizational structure and feel I'm fortunate enough to bring that experience as a county commissioner. I am retired from law enforcement and am working for an agricultural business of which I have a great interest. I wish to remain active in areas that make a difference in this beautiful part of Minnesota.
