Dorothy D. Hosking, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Oct. 12, 2009. Preceded in death by parents, Edgar E. Darling and Jeanette C. Gustavsen; stepfather, Hilmar Gustavsen; husbands, Donald A. Hayes Sr. and Louis R. Hosking Sr.; siblings, Jean, Ethel, Delbert, Madge, Ed and Norma; son, Donald A. Hayes Jr.; daughter, Dorothy Lou Hosking; and numerous good friends. Loving mother of David (Rosemarie) Hayes, L. R. "Rick" Hosking, Barbara (Altin) Paulson and William Hosking. Grandmother of Terry Lee Sjoberg, Roger (Kristen) Paulson and Richard Paulson. Great-grandmother of Willem and Caroline Paulson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy Hosking
Dorothy spent her early years in Brainerd and was a longtime Gull Lake resident. She had many friends and relatives in the area. She was a Gold Star Mother, a candidate for elective offices and active in numerous civic, charitable and social organizations in the Twin Cities. She spent many years in the real estate field and owned Shannon Realty. She will be remembered by many, many people as a friendly, fun-loving, caring, charitable person and will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at the Sunset Memorial Park Chapel, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. N.E., Minneapolis, at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, with visitation at 1:30 p.m. A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the University Club, 420 Summit Ave., in St. Paul. Memorials preferred to the Eaglecrest Arbor home in Roseville or the Alzheimer's Association.
