Ebnet NSIC volleyball player of week

Brainerd High School graduate Joan Ebnet of the University of Minnesota-Crookston has been named the Northern Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week ending Oct. 16.

The junior from Pequot Lakes totaled 68 digs and 41 kills in three matches for the Golden Eagles last week. She set a school single-match record with 42 digs against Augustana and added 18 kills.

Ebnet had 16 kills and 20 digs in a win over Bemidji State and added seven kills and six digs against South Dakota State.

Boosters will not meet Thursday

The Brainerd Sports Boosters Club will not meet Thursday because of teacher conventions.

Beth Sexton, the Warrior Athlete of the Week, will be honored at the Oct. 28 meeting at the Moose Lodge.

Sophomore football finishes season 7-1

The Brainerd Warrior sophomore football team ended its season Tuesday with a 7-1 mark after defeating Sartell 42-12 at Adamson Field.

The Warriors totaled 449 yards to Sartell's 118.

Scoring for Brainerd in the first half were Bo Jedinak on runs of 52 and 48 yards with the 2-point conversion a pass from Zach Eastman to Josh Ellens Eastman also threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Corey Hermanson with Jedinak running for the conversion.

In the second half, Jared Mueller scored on a 10-yard run and Eastman hit Hermanson with a 15-yard touchdown pass. Jared Goerges kicked the extra point.

CJ Peeters scored the final touchdown on a 3-yard run and Goerges kicked the extra point.

Jimmy Wisnewski had an interception in the fourth quarter for Brainerd.
