A benefit will be held for Larry and Melodie Tusler at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the American Legion.
Dinner will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with an auction to begin at 6 p.m. The silent auction will run from 5:30-7 p.m.
The benefit fee is $4 for adults, $2.50 for children age 4 to 12, and free for children under 3.
Melodie Tusler recently died. Larry Tusler is undergoing chemotherapy for lymphoma cancer.
LSS receives federal grant
Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota received a $50,000 grant from the federal Health and Human Services Department to continue providing crisis shelter and support over the next three years to children who refer themselves to the Baxter Youth Shelter.
The Baxter Youth Shelter offers temporary shelter, meals and counseling support to children in crisis from birth to 17 years of age. The program has been operating since 1995 and serves nearly 300 children and youths each year. Statewide, Lutheran Social Service offers crisis shelter care and support for children in six communities.
