20 years ago (1980)

The Baxter Garden Club will meet for a dessert luncheon at the home of Mrs. Wayne Curtis, 521 Holly Street. Mrs. Curtis will present a review on the origin of garden vegetables.

30 years ago (1970)

Brainerd's Citizens Action Council was told by a group of young people this week that the city has a growing drug problem. But there is no clear understanding here on just how serious the situation is and just what action can and should be taken.

40 years ago (1960)

The new 50-star flag was raised to the top of the flag staff while spectators and participants stood at attention during the official dedication of the new Federal Building. Miss Brainerd of 1960, Kaye Hill, clipped the ribbon.

60 years ago (1940)

Filling a need sorely felt in recent years, the Brainerd Civic Association tonight climaxes a year of organization at its first annual meeting and election of officers.

80 years ago (1920)

Entertainment, Best Theatre -- Today and Tomorrow "Everything But The Truth." Admission 15 and 25, tax included.

100 years ago (1900)

-- A Swede from Brainerd was looking over Section 16. This whole section is vacant.

-- This has been a queer week politically, every candidate passing here seems to wear an assuming smile.
