CROSSLAKE - The Crosslake Parks and Recreation Department will feature its annual Spooktacular Halloween Party noon to 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Crosslake Community Center.
This event will follow the first Crosslake Monster Dash 5K Walk/Run and Children's Dash. Prizes are awarded for best costumes and there are various age divisions and random prize drawings. The course is a certified flat, fast course. Early registrants receive a commemorative long-sleeved T-shirt. Cost of the event is $25 before Wednesday, $30 Thursday through race day for adults. Cost for the children's race is $10 before Wednesday and $15 Thursday through race day.
Race day registration starts at 8:30 a.m. The children's dash starts at 9:30 a.m. with the adult run/walk at 10 a.m.
There will be supervised children's activities for children age 4 to 10 from 10-11 a.m.
All proceeds from the Monster Dash will support the Parks and Library Foundation of Crosslake. Registration is available at the Crosslake Community Center or online at www.zapevent.com.
The Halloween party is structured for children 10 and younger. All children must be accompanied by an adult and admission as always is free.
The Halloween party is made possible by Crosslake community service groups, including the Crosslake/Ideal Lions, the Whitefish Area Lions and the American Legion Auxiliary. This year's event has been moved up an hour to accommodate Monster Dash participants.
There will be a variety of games, treats, face painting and contests. Each participant will receive a variety of prizes and plenty of treats. Volunteers are needed.
