Event is a scream, and more

The yellow leaves were falling during the Great Pumpkin Festival on Saturday in Gregory Park. Children and adults participated in sack races, pumpkin rolls, pie-throwing contests and a pie-eating contest.

And for folks who live near the park, the screaming you heard was part of a competition of who could scream the loudest.

The third annual event, coordinated by the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department, is now a rite of autumn in Brainerd.

Pumpkins were the center of attention. Throughout the day, there were drawings for free pumpkins and activities had an autumn theme.
