'Wheel of Fortune' rolls into Washington

WASHINGTON -- "Wheel of Fortune" host Pat Sajak and America's favorite letter-turner Vanna White hammed it up in front of nearly packed houses at DAR Constitution Hall last weekend.

"Don't you think we're even more adorable in person?" Sajak asked the giddy crowd of nearly 3,000 that gathered during Saturday night's taping.

"Wheel" had rolled into town to tape three weeks' worth of theme-related shows that are scheduled to air in future months. Five shows were taped Saturday for the game show's "Washington Week," featuring contestants from the D.C. area and Washington-themed questions. The episodes are scheduled to air during election week beginning Nov. 6.

Five more shows were taped Sunday for "College Week," which will air in February. They took a well-deserved break Monday and taped another five shows Tuesday featuring several members of the Washington Redskins. "NFL Players Week" will air in the days before the Super Bowl.

"It's very exciting on the road," Vanna gushed.
