The local Sons of Norway lodge has imported one of the home country's best-known singers for a public performance Friday before a lakes area audience.
Solvei Annette Larsen -- who gained international fame as the soloist on the "Norway, Land of Enchantment" video -- will perform at 7 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brainerd.
The concert is free and open to the public.
"This is an extraordinary opportunity to hear and appreciate the folk and classical melodies of Norway," said Jacqueline Meyer, publicity director for the local Sons of Norway Sagatun Lodge, which meets regularly at Trinity Lutheran Church.
"With a sparkling personality, Solvei captivates audiences with the versatility and beauty of her dynamic, crystal-clear voice and incredible five-octave range," Meyer said in a recent news release.
"Whether singing in English, Norwegian or Swedish, her music is an unforgettable experience," Meyer said.
"Norway, Land of Enchantment," featuring Larsen's voice, was produced to promote the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway.
She was brought to the United States by Sons of Norway of Minneapolis and will perform at other lodges throughout the state during her visit, according to members of the Sagatun Lodge.
Sons of Norway is a fraternal organization that promotes and preserves the Norwegian cultural heritage.
Local members said they expect to hear a full range of Norwegian folk songs in Larsen's musical program.
A singer since age 3, Larsen has toured extensively throughout Europe, releasing occasional CDs to popular acclaim, according to the Sons of Norway news release.
