District 12 legislative candidates will take part in a candidate forum at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Brainerd Public Library, 416 S. Fifth St.
Scheduled participants include Sen. Don Samuelson, DFL-Brainerd, and Paul Koering, who are vying for the Senate District 12 seat; Rep. Kris Hasskamp, DFL-Crosby, and Dale Walz, who are vying for the House District 12A seat; and Rep. Steve Wenzel, DFL-Little Falls, and Mary Marana, who are seeking the District 12B seat.
Candidates will make an opening and closing statement and answer questions drawn from the coalition's candidate questionnaire. If time allows, questions from the audience will also be taken.
The forum is sponsored by the Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities and the cities of Brainerd, Baxter and Little Falls. Topics will include property taxes, annexation, land use, environmental issues, transportation funding and economic development.
The coalition is a non-profit, non-partisan advocacy group representing 64 cities outside of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.
