The Crow Wing County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the county extension office in the Crow Wing County Courthouse.

Halloween Party set Oct. 28 at East Brainerd Mall
A Halloween Party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 28 outside the Children's Museum in the East Brainerd Mall.
The party is sponsored by the Children's Museum and the East Brainerd Mall. All proceeds will go to the museum.
Games will be 25 cents; face painting will be 50 cents. Prizes, food, snacks and activities will be available with free candy from mall stores from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will help design a 20-foot Halloween poster.
There will be a costume contest with various categories for the scariest, funniest, most original costumes and youngest participant, with $10 in mall bucks to the winner in each category. Costume parade and judging will begin at 2 p.m.

CARE committee to meet Tuesday
The CARE Children, Youth and Families committee will meet at 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Sawmill Inn in Brainerd.
CARE, which stands for Coordinating Area Resources Effectively for Crow Wing County, is open to anyone who is interested in collaborative work that will benefit children, youth and families in the county.
Staples woman joins Peace Corps
STAPLES -- Lori Rothstein, the daughter of Marv and Connie Rothstein of Staples, has been accepted into the Peace Corps.
Rothstein will leave for Namibia, Africa, on Oct. 26 to become a secondary education volunteer. Her work will include teaching English in a secondary school, organizing extramural activities, training Namibian teachers, establishing school/community libraries, as well as integrating HIV/AIDS education into the curriculum.
A 1996 graduate of Staples-Motley High School, Rothstein attended Valparaiso University in Indiana and earned a bachelor's degree in ethnic studies and German. She graduated this year. At Valparaiso, she was an active member and president of the German Club. She also studied at Tuebingen University in Germany and spent the summer teaching English in Xinchang, China.
Personnel and finance panel to meet
The Brainerd Personnel and Finance Committee will meet 5 p.m. Nov. 1 at city hall to discuss misdemeanor prosecution services.
