I find it ironic that an organization that does not want to be associated with Rush Limbaugh has a team (in Washington, D.C., of all places) named the Redskins. There is something wrong with this picture; maybe a little hypocrisy.
Well, here we go again. People complaining about ATVs. Some people are saying they're noisy. One neighbor has an ATV; another has a Harley-Davidson. I'll guarantee the Harley is a lot louder than the ATV. As far as noise goes, ATVs are quieter than semis and pick-ups that go by, the school buses that pick your children up, the road grader that grades your roads and the snowplows that plow in the winter. I would think people would be happy the county is working with the DNR to create a trail that can be patrolled.
ATV trail in Long Lake?
Did the residents of Long Lake Township know about the ATV trail slated to go through their front yard? I'm going to guess most didn't, even though this route was proposed two and a half years ago by the ATV clubs. What can you do about it? Come to the next town meeting Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. Call your county commissioner. Tell your friends and neighbors. Watch the Sept. 22 county commissioners' meeting on Crow Wing County's Web site to see how this all transpired. P.S. The residents of Platte Lake would be well advised to do the same.
