The Brainerd High School choirs will present a fall concert at 7 p.m. Thursday at Tornstrom auditorium. This date is a change from the Brainerd School District calendar.
The BHS choirs are Windfall, performing chamber music and jazz; Bards and Chorale, a men's and women's chorus singing standard literature ranging from 19th century art songs to modern repertoire; and A Cappella, a mixed a cappella choir singing repertoire that spans all periods.
More than 170 students participate in choir at BHS.
Tickets are $6, adults and $4, students and are available at the door. Senior blue cards are accepted at all concerts. Senior blue cards are free and available to all residents 62 years of age and are available at the activities office at BHS. The cards are good for free admission to all regular season home games and all concerts.
Wadena man appointed by Pawlenty to state EMS board
WADENA - Gov. Tim Pawlenty has announced the appointment of Gary S. Pearson of Wadena to the Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board.
Pearson is the director of outstate ambulance operations and support services for North Memorial Ambulance Service, where he has administrative responsibility for eight ambulance regions and 17 ambulance bases. He is also an adjunct professor in the master of arts in management program at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. Pearson has more than 35 years of experience in the EMS and law enforcement fields. He is a member of the Minnesota State Trauma Advisory Council, Minnesota Ambulance Association Board, and State Stroke Committee, and has served on numerous EMS-related boards in the past.
Brainerd School Curriculum Committee to meet Friday
The Brainerd School District Curriculum Committee will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the board room at Washington Educational Services Building, 804 Oak Street, Brainerd.
Agenda items include: Gifted Education Task Force report and administration recommendation and Adequate Yearly Progress District Improvement Plan update.
House committee schedules visit to Camp Ripley on Tuesday
CAMP RIPLEY - The Minnesota House Capital Investment Committee will visit Camp Ripley Tuesday as part of its tour of infrastructure and capital projects.
A House staff person who was contacted Friday did not have access to the detailed itinerary that listed what time the Camp Ripley meeting would be.
