Jansson, Cardinals fly past Warroad

STAPLES - Alex Jansson shredded the Warroad Warriors for 220 yards and three touchdowns as Class 3A's fifth-ranked Staples-Motley Cardinals cruised to a 38-0 win in a South Division Heart O'Lakes Conference game Thursday night.

After entering the half with a 16-0 lead, Jansson threw touchdown passes of 17, 47 and 55 yards in the second half. On the receiving end of the passes were Seth Haaland, Tanner Roberts and Brandon Wing.

Wing and Blake Petrich also finished off a pair of Cardinals drives with touchdown runs from four and six yards out as the Cardinals rushed for 115 yards.

Defensively, Chad Beebe and Jared Cleveland each grabbed interceptions for the Cardinals.
