PEQUOT LAKES - Michigan folk singer Claudia Schmidt will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in the Pequot Lakes High School auditorium in the first show of the Greater Lakes Area Performing Arts season.

Schmidt has performed on radio's "A Prairie Home Companion." She has recorded 13 albums featuring her 12-string guitar and mountain dulcimer playing.
Brooks Williams to perform Oct. 24
NISSWA - Blues guitarist Brooks Williams will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Nisswa Community Center as part of the Grassroots Concerts series.
Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children 11 and younger.
The Georgia native's skills won him a place on a top 100 acoustic guitarists list. His 2008 album, "The Time I Spend with You," went to No. 3 on the FOLKDJ charts.

Concord Singers to present German music
STAPLES - The Concord Singers will perform traditional German music at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 25 at T Maxwell's in Staples. A dinner will be at 6 p.m.
Dinner-and-concert tickets are $25 for adults and $19 for students, and must be ordered in advance from the Centennial Auditorium box office at (218) 894-5416 or (800) 213-6877. Advance concert-only tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students; at the door, they are $15 for adults and $7 for students.
Founded in 1931, the Concord Singers preserve the language and music heritage of New Ulm.
Dinner will include German potato soup and Bavarian beef brisket over spaetzle, with apple strudel for dessert.
