LITTLE FALLS -- Leonard C. Nelson, 92, Little Falls, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at St. Otto's Care Center in Little Falls.
He was born April 2, 1910, in Belle Prairie Township to Charles and Ella (Johnson) Nelson. He lived in the Freedhem area and attended District No. 104 country school. Upon completing his schooling, he helped his parents and neighbors farm. He entered the Army in July 1942 and served in Belgium and Germany until his discharge in September 1945. He returned to Freedhem and helped his brother, Lester, farm and repair his home. He moved to St. James in the early 1950s and worked as a carpenter, auto mechanic and helped run the local pool hall. He was a mechanic. In 1961, he returned to the Freedhem area. Because of decling health, he sold the farm in 1962. He returned to his carpentry and mechanic work until retiring in 1978. He became a resident of Pine Grove Manor in Little Falls in 1987.
Survivors include a sister, Frances Nelson, Little Falls.
Two sisters, Viola and Lillian Nelson, and four brothers, Raymond, Clarence, Lester and Franklin Nelson, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls with the Rev. Carl Larson officiating. Burial will be in the Freedhem Cemetery.
Friends may call two hours before services Friday at the church.
Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls.
