S-M scores two 2nds in Mid-State

PARK RAPIDS - Staples-Motley's Gunner Johnson ran to a second-place 16:25.03 and Emma Pogreba finished third in 15:03.10 helping both Cardinals teams to second in Wednesday's Mid-State Conference meet at Headwaters Golf Course.

Jordan Bendson finished fifth, Josh Freese eighth and Isaac Fuhrman 10th as S-M finished 11 points behind first-place Detroit Lakes.

Pequot Lakes' Silas Lydeen finished third and Jerrod Braam was seventh helping the Patriot boys' team to third. The Crosby-Ironton Rangers finished fourth led by Colt Severson's 12th-place 17:23.94. Wadena-Deer Creek came in fifth.

The Cardinals' Kaytlin Roth was fourth as S-M finished 14 points behind Park Rapids.

Kylie Beltz finished seventh for the third-place Pequot girls. C-I finished fourth as Lisa Borden finished ninth.
