HINCKLEY - Quarterback Andrew Welshons accounted for 213 offensive yards and two touchdowns as the Aitkin Gobblers broke a five-game losing streak by defeating Hinckley-Finlayson 38-20 in a Great River Conference game Wednesday.
Welshons rushed 16 times for 149 yards and connected on five of six passes for 64 yards. Running back Sam Johnson picked up 124 yards and two touchdowns on 22 rushes.
Andrew White scored on a 7-yard run in the first quarter to start the scoring for Aitkin.
The Gobblers outrushed the Jaguars 301-128.
Defensively, the Gobblers' Martin Schroeder had 10 tackles with three sacks and Andrew Nyberg had 15 tackles. Dustin Goble had an interception, his second of the year.
The 2-5 Gobblers will close the regular season next Wednesday when they host undefeated arch-rival Crosby-Ironton.
