PIERZ - Cody Stangl carried the ball 26 times for 182 yards and all three Pierz touchdowns as Class 2A's 10th-ranked Pioneers defeated the Holdingford Huskers 20-6 Wednesday.
Stangl scored on runs of 9, 3 and 5 yards in the Central Minnesota Conference clash.
"Our line did a great job tonight and really took control of the game in the second half," said Pierz head coach Leo Pohlkamp. "Cody Stangl had a super game for us, plus John Omann and Mitch Woitalla both nearly rushed for 100 yards each as well.
"Holdingford played us tough, which we expected. They are a solid team."
Omann carried the ball 15 times for 86 yards and Woitalla rushed for 98 yards on 11 carries as Pierz outgained Holdingford 373 to 248.
Stangl also led Pierz on defense with nine tackles. Preston Weber and Omann each had interceptions.
