Snowmobiler Shootout returns Oct. 22 to BIR

Posted: Saturday, October 15, 2005

American Snowmobiler magazine will run its premier snowmobile drag race at Brainerd International Raceway Saturday, highlighting modified sleds on asphalt.

The 16th annual Shootout Invitational will be Saturday with Oct. 23 the rain date. The event showcases the world's fastest trail modified, fully modified and turbo asphalt sleds, some pushing speeds of more than 150 mph.

This year the shootout adds a swap meet, dealer and aftermarket exhibits, 2006 Yamaha test rides and an indoor vintage sled display.

Racers and sponsors interested in participating should contact American Snowmobiler for rules and regulations. All participants must preregister and sleds must pass a safety tech inspection the morning of the event.

Gates open to the public at 9 a.m., with Yamaha demo rides starting at 10 a.m. and racing at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10, but discount coupons are available at www.amsnow.com or www.brainerdracewayandresort.com. Children 12 and younger are admitted free.

This is the second year American Snowmobiler, North America's No. 1 subscription-based snowmobiling magazine, and BIR have combined to put on an event.
