EAST GULL LAKE -- Gov. Tim Pawlenty is scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Resort and Campground Association fall conference at Madden's Resort on Gull Lake.
The conference will be conducted in the Wilson Bay dining room.
Army Reserve soldiers honored
Approximately 100 Army Reserve soldiers from the 367th Engineer Battalion Companies C, A and Higher Headquarters who have served in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom were to be honored for their service Saturday in a ceremony in Duluth.
These soldiers live primarily in the Duluth and Brainerd areas.
The Army Reserve soldiers and their families honored in the Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen ceremony were to receive an encased American flag, a Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen flag and a specially-designed commemorative coin and lapel pin set for the soldier and spouse.
The ceremony was to be hosted by Brig. Gen. Douglas G. Richardson, deputy commander of the 88th Regional Readiness Command.
The 367th EN BN is under the command and control of the 88th RRC. The 88th RRC has command and control of most Army Reserve units in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Hands of Hope Resource Center receives grant
LITTLE FALLS -- The Hands of Hope Resource Center received a grant for $311,074 from the federal government's Office of Violence Against Women.
The two-year grant will be used for the Intervention Project program, which deals with the criminal justice system's response to domestic violence.
To highlight Domestic Violence Awareness Month, there will be a meeting at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday in Meeting Room 3 at the Morrison County Government Center in Little Falls to discuss the grant and its impact on Morrison and Todd counties, the criminal justice system, domestic violence offenders and domestic violence victims.
Representatives from Hands of Hope will be present along with the heads of law enforcement, corrections, court administration and county attorney's offices.
