20 years ago (1982)

Transporting a 140-foot long, 196,000 pound cylindrical tank from North Dakota is no easy job. The $3.1 million tank shipped here by water from Germany went through Brainerd today on its way to a plant in Beulah, N.D.

30 years ago (1972)

Lassig's Log Cabin deer and bear contest, a fixture in Brainerd for hunters a number of years, has been given state designation as a check-in station, proprietor Everett Lassig announces.

40 years ago (1962)

The Brainerd City Council last night approved a budget that calls for a grand total expenditure of $982,949 for the coming year. Last year the budget called for an expenditure of $956,397.

60 years ago (1942)

Ed "Tom" O'Brien, Brainerd, Democrat, who will appear on the Independent ticket in November as a candidate for Congress in the Sixth District, has been endorsed by the Minnesota Brotherhood of Railroad trainmen.

80 years ago (1922)

Brainerd had a light fall of the beautiful Monday night which melted as quickly as it struck the ground.

100 years ago (1902)

There was a delightful dancing party last night given by the C.O.F. at Elks Hall. Some 50 couples enjoyed the dance to the fullest extent.
