CROSSLAKE -- Leighton Arthur Black, 92, Crosslake, died Friday, Oct. 12, 2001, at Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Village in Pine River.
He was born April 4, 1909, in Springfield to Arthur and Anna (Schmelz) Black. He attended school in Springfield. After graduation, he moved to Minneapolis and began working for Northwestern Bank. He married Audry Magee on June 16, 1941. In 1969, he retired after 40 years with the bank and spent summers on Horseshoe Lake near Crosslake. They recently wintered in Arizona. He was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club in Minneapolis.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Black, Salt Lake City; a daughter, Nancy Wood, Dublin, Ohio; and two sisters, Mary Ann Kiner and Donna MacMaster, both of Minneapolis.
A sister, Electra Heinen, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
Friends may call after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
