Ettermans break 200-point mark in win

ALEXANDRIA - Katy and Beth Etterman broke the 200-point mark in diving as Brainerd blew past Alexandria 112-74 in a Central Lakes Conference meet Tuesday.

Brainerd remains in second place in the conference behind unbeaten Sartell.

Katy Etterman won the diving competition with 211.60 points while sister Beth finished second with 200.75.

"Anytime you score 200 in diving, that's impressive," said Warriors coach Dan Anderson. "Beth's only an eighth-grader so we were very pleased with her finish.

"Betsy Schuldheisz won the 100 backstroke (1:07.58) and we were very happy with that as well."

Siri Smith finished second in the 100 backstroke, but won the 200 individual medley and was also on the winning 200 medley relay with Mariah Moen, Grace Bymark and Sara Dens and also was on the first-place 400 freestyle relay with Dens, Bymark and Alexandria Erickson.

Dens won the 100 freestyle and Laura Goll led a 1-2-3 finish in the 500 freestyle.

Brainerd's next meet isn't until Oct. 23 when it hosts St. Cloud Tech.

"After four meets in a week, it's great to get a break before the next one," said Anderson.
